Golden Rock Pagoda

An enchanting Journey into a land of fantasy. Kyaik Htiyo Pagoda (the Golden Rock) is in the
area known in the ancient days as Suvannabhumi (the Golden Land). Golden rock
pagoda is located about 180 km from Yangon. This pagoda is one of the wonder of
Myanmar. The pagoda stands on a gold gilded boulder precariously perched on the
edge of stone rock in the top of Kyaikhto Mountain.
Kyaikhtiyoe pagoda is one of the wonders in Myanmar. Kyeik Htee Yoe comes from
the word Kyeik Kathi Yoe. That means the pagoda carried on
the hermit hat. The golden boulder make wonderful stories
for its existence through millenniums facing earthquakes and
storms.
It is believed to enshrine three scared strengths of Buddha's hair. Kyaikhtiyo
pagoda is situated in Thahton district, Kyaikhto Township.
The pagoda is accessible by train or by car via Bago.
