Trekking to Chin villages

Day 1 Bagan - Chauk - Kampalat by car
Depart for Kampalat about 100 miles for 8-hour drive, across Ayeyarwaddy River over bridge.
On the way you may have opportunity to see some of the prominent local birds of
lowland area. Kampalat is an old British settlement town situates 4560 ft above
sea. The temperature is cool year round and pleasant. Lunch on the way, dinner
and overnight at local guesthouse.
Day 2 Kampalat (hiking)
Day return trekking to one of the Chin villages in the area such as Yelaungban, Hlalaung or
Makyaukah villages about 5 miles for 3 hour trek to observe way of life in Chin
tribe. You could note Chin tribe women wearing various pattern of tattoo on
their face and attractive amber necklaces. Lunch, dinner and overnight at local
guesthouse.
Day 3 AyeSakan (car + trekking)
Depart for AyeSakan 5700 ft above sea about 12 miles for 4 hours through evergreen forest
with large oaks and laurels which later changes in to a dry low pine forest with
rhododendron. It is quite attractive sceneries with numerous kinds of native
birds. From here you can see Mindut at 4860 ft right on the other side of the
mountain. Lunch on the way, dinner and overnight at AyeSakan camp.
Day 4 AyeSakan - Kyardo (trekking)
Visit the blacksmith who has been doing this for 30 years. Depart by car up to 4 mile
about 30 minutes and leave the jeep and trek to Kyardo
village about 1 hour to a village where most people from
this village speak their native Chin language and rather
difficult to communicate unless you have proper Chin local
guide. People grow maze, beans and tea plantation, beside
most of the men in the villages are also skilled hunters.
Lunch on the way, dinner and overnight at a local house.
Day 5 Kyardo - Mindut (trekking / car)
Trekking down to the valley to Chechaung about 2 hour, arrive at your jeep and continue
driving on mountains to Mindut about 1 hour. This up hill drive provides
magnificent view of the mountains. In Mindut you may note various Chin
traditional dances (frighten away the monkey to protect their crops, dance when
someone dies, ritual offering dance, frightening evils dance etc. Lunch on the
way, dinner and overnight at local guesthouse.
Day 6 Mindut
In Mindut you may observe various Chin traditional dances, frighten away the monkey to protect
their crops, dance when someone dies, ritual offering dance, frightening evils
dance etc. You can also observe Chin musician who blow the bamboo flute with his
nose and a church. Farewell dinner with local Chin traditional dance over a
bonfire joining hand in hand. Lunch, dinner and overnight at local guesthouse.
Day 7 Mindut - Pontaung - Pakokku - Bagan (jeep)
Drive to Pontaung about 40 miles for 3 hour. Pontaung and Ponnyar mountain range is very
famous among archaeologist as recent discover by the International team of the
fossilized remains found from Pontaung formation about 34 to 50 million years.
The team discovered fragments of such animals as turtle, crocodile, rhinoceros,
and pig in Pontaung stone layers. Continue to Pakokku about 40 miles for 4 hour,
across Ayeyarwaddy River by craft ferry and continue to Bagan. Lunch on the way,
dinner and overnight in Bagan.
